"New River Revival" Presented by Bonafide

   May 15-16, Pulaski, VA
   Awards @ Pulaski Theater

pulaski.va.logo.png

Kick off spring in the Blue Ridge as KAS heads to Pulaski County, Virginia for the New River Revival -an event centered around one of the most legendary waterways on Earth. The New River is famously considered the second-oldest river in the world, carving through ancient Appalachian ridges to create a fishery unlike anything else on the KAS trail. Within minutes of town, anglers can launch into miles of world-class smallmouth water, deep ledges, rocky shoals, quiet backwaters, and the expansive New River impoundments - Claytor Lake and New River below the dam - all known for producing trophy bronzebacks.

While you're here, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Southwest Virginia. Explore Claytor Lake State Park, a prime spot for paddling families and shoreline hangouts. Hike the New River Trail State Park, a rail-trail that winds for 57 scenic miles along the river. Or venture into the surrounding Blue Ridge highlands for waterfalls, mountain overlooks, and cozy small towns worth a stop between pre-fishing missions.

Pulaski County itself brings a friendly mountain-town feel with local coffee shops, breweries, outfitters, and easy access to everything you’ll need for tournament week. Whether you're grabbing a bite downtown, stretching your legs on Draper Mountain trails, or stocking up on gear at nearby shops, the whole region is built for authentic Appalachian adventure.

Our Closing Ceremony Festival - complete with food, music, games, Toyota truck displays - will be held at the historic Pulaski Theater, with the final Awards Ceremony inside to relive the weekend’s GoPro highlights and crown our winners!

Let the New River Revival begin.

         LAKES

 Claytor {} Hogan {} Gatewood

              RIVERS

New River (upper & lower) {} Little River

** including all free flowing canals, creeks & rivers feeding in. When scouting (online or in person) track all tributaries upstream from one of the core bodies of water listed above until you hit any of the following man-made obstacles - solid or earthen dam, or road, culvert or pipe etc that you cannot kayak under/over. Any of those points are hard KAS boundaries. However, a "spillway" or "lowhead" type dam is legal  in KAS and anglers can fish & access above & below them. They are just "running the river" and are different from "solid or earthen" dams that have water flowing under the dam via a pipe or drain (think neighborhood or farm ponds, private lakes etc) or through larger outflows or turbines on larger public lake dams. If the water above a non-spillway type dam is legal in KAS it will be marked and listed as one of your "core" bodies of water on this page/map. If not, then it is not legal for the event.

Anglers must access "legally" & "publicly." If you find any water, or access, you feel may not be covered by the interactive map, preview video, or rules standards please contact the KAS Tournament Director prior to the event for clarification or risk being DQ'd if it is later deemed to be not eligible. For help determining "public" access reference this GIS Flowchart
