ACA Scholarship Application Form

This scholarship is designed for anglers seeking financial assistance from the Kayak Adventure Series
(KAS) to cover tuition - and potentially lodging - for instructor certification through the American Canoe
Association (ACA) to teach Kayak and Kayak Fishing.

The ACA is the leading organization for paddlesports education, now offering a dedicated kayak fishing
instructor certification. This instructor certification workshop provides hands-on training in
essential skills such as paddle technique, safety, trip planning, on-the-water decision making along
with the skills needed to teach beginners.

Our goal is simple: make kayak fishing safer while growing the sport. Too many

anglers lack the knowledge needed to safely control their kayaks, prepare for

changing conditions, and assess risk on the water.

As a nationally certified ACA instructor, you will be equipped to:

• Teach skills courses in your local community and alongside KAS events

• Promote safe paddling practices and reduce preventable accidents

• Earn additional income through instruction

• Help anglers improve not just safety - but also fishing success

strengthen the community, and grow the sport the right way.

Instructor Certification Workshop will be held in Clarksville, Tennessee in conjunction with Broodstock III (after)

• Zoom evening class in advance

• ½ day class on Friday, September 18, 2026

• 3 full days instruction on Sunday, Sept 20 – Tuesday, Sept 22

• KAS Scholarship valued at $1,000; includes 1 year ACA membership & instructor dues as well as

      tuition for Level 1 Kayak and Kayak Fishing Instructor Certification Workshop

• Acceptance of scholarship includes commitment to teach a class for at least one KAS event in 2027

• Attendance does not guarantee instructor certification. Candidates will earn certification

      according to their performance.
